Reflect on Your Progress
Think about how you felt before you wrote your paragraph about Sheldon. Compare that to how you feel now that you have the first assignment under your belt. Take a look at the following questions and post a comment if you feel comfortable discussing your thoughts on this topic.

ReplyDeleteHi Chanel,
DeleteI have some activities and websites that can help you with grammar. Come see me in I-122 for tutoring. :)
It definitely increase my confidence and I learned from it too.
ReplyDeleteLisandro
That's great! Can you say more to develop this idea further?
DeleteI have definitely increased confidence in my ability to write and I think it will only increase more by us practicing and doing the all the activites we do in class. Cyrus I
ReplyDeleteI feel more confident in my writing because I understand the sentence structure better. But I'm still a little confused about finding and understanding action verbs and linking verbs. Also I still have trouble writing 9-15 sentences.
ReplyDeletecrystal
Hi Crystal,
DeleteIt's great to be aware of what you have mastered and what is still difficult for you. We will do a lot more discussion about verbs, and you will get a lot more practice with the 9-15 sentence mark. Great thoughts!
I feel confident in my writing somewhat but, I don't feel confident in my current old high school scheduling.
ReplyDeleteMichael S.
Hi Michael,
DeleteI'm not quite sure what you mean here? You don't feel confident in your high school schedule? Can you explain this more?
I've always liked free writing on my own time or just to escape from reality. Not worrying about grammar errors or misspelling, I feel as if writing is a good therapy for someone who feels that they have a lot on their mind. After just a couple weeks of being in Eng 43, I like the fact that I'm touching base with this course by refreshing my memory on writing essays. It's a great feeling learning to comprehend and to associate with others who may have the same struggle as I do.
ReplyDeleteFantastic point, Harrieth! I can tell you are putting a lot of thought into your comments.
DeleteI feel alot more confident about writing paragraphs thanks to the steps and process we are being teached in our classroom. i think that putting your thoughts together this way is a great, because that way when i am ready to write the actually paragraph i can just guide myself by all my brainstorming.
ReplyDeleteThat's great to hear, Jessica! Brainstorming definitely makes the writing process easier. It takes the pressure off.
DeleteI feel like my confidence has soared and through practing some activities, I will soon will be able to excel in my ability.

I wish I had a "like" button for this comment, like they do on Facebook!
DeleteHaving the tools to create a subject and to explain it is getting better becase there are steps to follow which is great.
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
DeleteI agree with Jessica Nieto, i myself also feel more confident about writing paragraphs with the steps and process we have be taught. All the worksheets you have gave us have been really helpful. (:
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I like that you reference Jessica's comment. That is exactly what I want you to practice doing on the blog -- read first and then respond. Great job!
DeleteHopefuly with all these writing skills i am being taught, i improve my writing in essays. Im not so good at writing essays but hopefully all this will help (:
ReplyDeleteBefore I hated writing and it was difficult to make my essays flow well. Now with all the practice activities from class, I feel a little more confident in my writing and I do not mind it either.
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone. A lot of students feel this way. I appreciate your honesty in this post! And, I'm glad you are starting to feel more confident.
DeleteI feel more comfortable now, then when I first started the class. I know how to do a topic sentence and details, I think I still need help organizing and grammar also.
ReplyDelete-Matt Turner
Hey Matt,
DeleteIt was great to see you in the lab on Thursday! Great job recognizing your strengths and the things that you can still improve upon. You will get a lot more practice with organization and grammar by the end of the semester. :)
I am still struggling with verbs sometimes. I am probably the turtle ones in your class that will eventually catch up to the end of the semester. LOL.
ReplyDeleteErica..
You know what they said about the turtle, "Slow and steady wins the race." Verbs are tricky. I'm glad to see you coming to the lab and asking questions. We all learn a little at a time. You won't be perfect in one week or even one semester. Hang in there!
DeleteBeing in this class has really improved my writing and thoughts of writing. I feel that over the course of recent class sessions, i have definitely gained confidence in my writing and able to write more interesting college level papers!. stoked to learn more and earn more from this class!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome to hear, Kevin! I'm stoked that you're stoked to learn! :)
DeleteI need to work on my ability to write lengthy essays and my grammar.
ReplyDeleteGreat goal! Take it a little at a time.
DeleteI feel more confidet in my writing then I was before this assignment. The only thing I need to work on is my transitions to the next sentence. -Norma L.
ReplyDeletei feel that i can still improve on my writing skills. however some of my abilities have change with writing and making proper paragraphs and this makes me feel great about my self.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline AG
I'm glad you're feeling better about your ability!
DeleteI have issues spotting the subject and verbs some times. I think I to far into it guess.
ReplyDeleteThis is a common issue for students. Make sure to review the part of your book and the activities that we did in class to help clarify. Or, you can always ask us in the lab.
DeleteI have learned some much in these couple of months in class. I feel like I improved greatly. I'm learning a lot and getting better at writing.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
