It helps me realized the importance of improving paragraph writing skills, especially when writing your resume for job hunting.

Writing for a resume is a very important skill -- you can definitely apply the ideas you are learning about how to write clearly and choose appropriate wording. Good idea!
ReplyDeletei can apply some of the new tips to my future writing assignments. writing the first paragraph was always pretty tricky as well as making it long enough, as for applying it at work...idk know how i would transition anything from English. i have applied a little bit like adding 2 support sentences right after i introduce a new detail and that overall made it longer and made it more descriptive than sounding like a quick summary.
ReplyDeletePatrick,
DeleteThe first paragraph is often the hardest one for students because everything is fresh and new. As you go, it'll get easier.
In terms of applying it to work, it doesn't just have to be paragraph structure. It could be sentence-level writing, using your creativity, defending or supporting a point, or communicating clearly.
If I remember correctly, I think you said that you work in the food industry, right? How about communicating with customers or writing down an order? That would qualify under communication, which is a very important part of English. :)
Or, what about a job that you would like to have in the future? How could English skills help you in your career?
DeleteCustomer service wise i can say that its important to be a little formal by how you approach them, yenno make them feel welcome rather than treating them just as another customer. As for carrer wise, i would say it is crucial to improve my writing skills because i suppose people veiw other people differently just by the way they talk and through their writing. So it would be really embarrassing to turn in a cover letter or a personal summary about yourself to a future employer with amature writing skills. Dontyouthink?
DeleteI'm seeing that my 42 and even my math class are quite a bit relating with this 43 class though...and when after I got out of this class, and going to the others classes, it was so fit in, and easy since I already faced it...

Great to hear! I can definitely see how English 42 is related. I'm curious to hear more about math. This is a very wise insight. What specific relationship do you see between English 43 and math? :)
