  3. I like the quizzes. SENTENCE: The list of items is/are on the desk. QUESTION: Since "items" make the "list" plural should "is" be the only verb?

    1. Good question, Lisandro! Remember that "of items" is actually a prepostional phrase, so we would cross that out. The real subject of your sentence in this case is "LIST." Therefore, "list" agrees with "is." Does that make more sense?
